Last year I decided to take up golf again after playing only a handful of times over the past two decades. When I think back to what we were wore for golf when I was playing in the 90s it was basically regular street clothes - 100% cotton pants and knit or woven tops with practically no stretch. Times have changed! Golf wear is now truly athletic wear and those constricting fabrics have been replaced by technical fabrics. But RTW golf clothes are expensive, in boring colors, and the sizing isn’t always inclusive. Time to make my own. Hello my darlings, Here I am once again to share another beautiful make with you and I am thrilled. Let’s start by talking about this amazing jersey knit fabric, while I am always team woven I was attracted by the nonchalant look of the fabric. The navy blue font features white rhombus shaped flowers with red polka dot inside and pink polka dot in between each flowers placed diagonally. I love it! The original plan was to make a jumpsuit, however the more I look at the fabric the more it was calling for something else. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it yet, nonetheless on a quick trip to Walmart my eyes spotted a roll of red and white striped ribbon, the decision was obvious: sporty chic it is! You ever make one of those dresses you can’t wait to wear? Well this is the one. I’m prepping for an upcoming very overdue vacation and I wanted to make clothes that were cute, comfortable and functional.  This dress hit every mark for me and it’s all thanks to this stretch satin twill !   There aren’t enough words to describe this fabric and how much I love it.  When shopping for fabric online you have to look at composition and hope it’s true to form.  I have yet to be disappointed! This fabric has a bit of stretch which wasn’t needed for this dress but just made it even more comfortable.  It sews beautifully and moves with a bounce that’s perfect for this style. I made this dress using Vogue V1558 with lots of pattern alterations.   -Removed the seam from the front bodice by folding the bodice front pattern under 1.5” where the seam should be.  -Faced the neck back -Changed the style of the pleats -Added a back zipper -Added 10.5” to the width ...

I’m ready for cocktail hour! This is the Belladone dress from Deer and Doe Patterns . It has been in my pattern stash for a long time. I recently made two versions. This one is my Fabric Mart make. When I first made this dress I didn’t think of any decade it could have looked like it came from. However, when people saw the first version they commented it had a very Jackie O feel to it. So I thought “well, I'm going to have to make a version for cocktail hour”. And here it is. This dress has very structured style lines and I am here for it! From the structured bodice to the bell shaped skirt with perfectly placed pleats. It is made of this lovely brocade that has a little simmer taking it up a level. Deer and Doe Patterns have wonderful instructions. Even though I did a lot of extras on the inside the dress itself is quite simple to make. There are two versions you can make. Hi guys, I am on my second make as a Fabric Mart Fabricista! This time I chose a lemon lime color linen . I live in Texas and trust me, our weather is absolutely bipolar,  YES, it is, its cold in summer and spring sometimes and it's hot sometimes in winter,  so I wasn't sure what to make until I saw a dress that took my attention.  I saw this dress on Instagram and I was crazy about it. I immediately decided to make the dress, and I knew I had to self draft it. The linen was pretty easy to sew and very soft. I did line it fully. The top was pretty easy to sew, I tried my very best to mimic the picture, as for the collar, I thought I had it down, 😅 haha, but I realized mine was different after I had attached the collar to the dress, but hey I still love it, it turned out my way...lol. sometimes yours have to look a bit different than the picture you are copying. Little girls love to twirl when they wear dresses with frills, and it doesn’t change much once we get older either. I chose this beautiful Cobalt Blue/Black/Alabaster Polyester/Lycra Stretch Twill Blouse Weight fabric (#SZC3940d) that was perfect for my DIY dress with frills. For this project you can use any bodice you like and then follow this easy DIY design to make the layered bottom potion or even turn it into a skirt if you like. I used 4 yards of this fabric to create this dress. You will need lining fabric for this project, so luckily I found some blue fabric in my stash. The illustration shows that you can use your measurements right on the fabric to create the under lining to attached the frills to. You want to measure your waist divided by 4, measure down to your hips and use that measurement divided by 4, and then down to the length of your skirt (my lining piece is 24 inches long) and measure out 3 additional inches from the width of your hips to create an A-Line skirt for...

Dee:  My spring outfit was made from 3 different fabrics.  The floral cardigan was made from an FTY Knit having a fluid drape.  The pattern used was a New Look 6476.  The cardigan feels so soft and moves wonderfully!  The cardigan can be worn several ways making it a versatile part of my wardrobe.  For the pants I choose a delightful black Cotton/Lycra Stretch Denim.  I was not disappointed!  This denim has a soft feel while maintaining the durability factor denim is known for.  Be sure to serge the seams, overlock the edges, or finish off the seams in some other manner as denim is also known for its fraying!  The pockets were made out of a lighter matching fabric to reduce bulk.   They fit so comfortably, ...

Happy Friday, everyone! I am super excited to share about my Axis Dress by Papercut Patterns today. This dress was love at first sight! For me, longer skirt lengths of dresses and skirts are challenging since I am petite (5’ 1”), but this dress was so pretty that I had to make it. Now, let's talk about the fabric. I have been eyeing this Chambray Linen fabric for a while. Just seeing from a picture of it on their website, I knew that it is a high-quality fabric! I think they do a great job showcasing their fabric by putting multiple views. I think that is one of the reasons why I keep clicking “Add to cart” almost every time I go to their website, lol.  I debated between the grape and this orchid pink , but I am very happy that I chose orchid pink.
