Well, I guess that just leaves me. I'm Krystal & I manage this blog, among other things. Now that I've taken the time to introduce you to all of the wonderful employees here at Fabric Mart, (and our amazing owners), I am going to go ahead & close this portion of our Behind The Scenes off with my Q&A. So hello there! 👋 It's nice to meet you!
Who are you? Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am Krystal. I’ve lived in Pennsylvania for almost 16 years now. But I am originally from sunny Southern California! I recently just moved to Lancaster County with my Fiancé – we get married this September! We have a one-brain-celled orange tabby named Dexter whom we adore. I’m a wordy, animal loving, introverted, homebody with a pretty decent green thumb. Oh & I think I am a pretty good cook as well.
How long have you worked at Fabric Mart?
I just celebrated seven years this month!
What are your main responsibilities? What do you do?
My official title is Webmaster. But I, like many of us here at Fabric Mart, wear many hats. I am behind all of the creative for our marketing & email campaigns. I change our sales daily & get those emails sent off to you. (Not subscribed to our daily send yet? You can subscribe here.) I am also the head of our social media, I manage our lovely Fabricistas & the Fabric Mart blog, & I do some low-level tech support when a computer or printer is acting up. I also work alongside our amazing fabric describers in helping keep those New Arrivals coming! Did you know we add about 40 new products every day, Monday through Friday?
What’s your favorite thing about working at Fabric Mart?
My co-workers hands down! Many have become like family. Even those who’ve gone on to work elsewhere. They’ve gotten me through some pretty tough times. And I am so grateful for them all.💖
What question are you asked the most?
Being in the upstairs portion of the building, I am mostly asked questions by our describers. Usually about colors or print names. Occasionally customers ask me for a price for a fabric found on our to-be-described table. But typically it’s just “what color is this?”.
Do you consider yourself crafty?
I do consider myself crafty. I do not sew, however I do crochet & loom knit. I also love photography & graphic design. I like to paint too, but I am not good at it in any sense of the imagination.
Favorite thing to do outside of work? Any hobbies?
My Fiancé & I love to travel. We’ve been to 22 states so far. We are hoping to cross off at least one more on our Honeymoon next summer. We also love to go to concerts & movies. But on the flip side, we also like to stay home & play video games as well. I also like to cook & bake. And to crochet & loom knit as well.
Do you collect anything?
I don’t really collect anything. I think I mostly collect memories. I keep ticket stubs & what not. I also take a lot of photos & I still get a lot of them printed out to put in frames. And we did start a fridge magnet collection of all the places we’ve been. That’s about it!
What is a TV show you are currently binging?
I just started watching Parks & Rec lately. I struggled to get into it, but everyone said I needed to stick it out & that it would get better. And sure enough, it did!
I also am in the middle of binge watching Yellowstone. So good!
I have also been waiting for the next season of The Bear, The Last Of Us, Severance, Fallout, & YOU.
If you could only eat one dish for every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Fellow Southern California people will understand this one… but man how I could eat off the Del Taco menu every day if I could. Other than my family, it is one of the things I miss the most about back home. That & just really good hole-in-the-wall Mexican food. 🌯 You just simply don’t find that out here on the East Coast.
*I recently found out they are opening a Del Taco down in Virginia next month. It will be the closest location we have to us here in Pennsylvania. My Fiance may or may not already be thinking of a special weekend trip down to Virginia Beach sometime this summer. 😂
Drop some knowledge… What’s the best advice you were ever given?
It’s never too late to begin again. Life is too short to be unhappy. If you don't like something, change it!
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I would just like to say thank you to everyone for taking the time to get to know us all! I would also like to say that when you shop with us, you're not only saving money on those fabulous fabrics, but you're also supporting our team. Each one of us is grateful for every order that comes in. And we love hearing your feedback too! The wonderful notes & messages you leave either on social media, in the order notes, or by email, never go unnoticed. We appreciate you! And we are so glad that we get to send you a bit of happiness in the mail, one package at a time.
Happy shopping & happy sewing!
Thanks for your work, FM is my favorite online fabric store. 👍
