It’s Summer and most times you will catch me in a summer dress, but every now and again I love a Summer Fun pants outfit. This outfit is fun because I love the combination of the polka-dots with the strips in the fabric. I have started loving fabric with double borders now because it can be used in so many different ways and that’s why I chose this beautiful Barn Red/Black/Off-White 100% Cotton Double Border Geometric Print (#ULD7686r) that was perfect for this project. I used just under 4 yards of this fabric to create this outfit because I had to make sure I had the perfect pattern placement on the fabric and I also love me some wide-leg pants. This is again a mashup of 2 different patterns to create this look. I used the bodice of the Burda 6968 Top and the pants from the Simplicity 8389 pattern which I hacked by taking the pleats out of the front of the pants. I had high hopes of making a New Look 6655 dress.  The pattern said I only needed two yards, so that’s what I ordered.  Ha! there was no way I could cut that dress out of two yards of that fabric.  So I put on my thinking cap.  What else could I make that I would wear A LOT because I love this fabric.  I decided on Butterick 6456.  I was a little confused with the pleat because it was really an inverted pleat and I kept wanting to make it a regular pleat. I have been wanting to have some Historical Mens Court Garb for a few years now. And when I saw this fabric, I knew exactly what I'd do with it. Hello everyone! I am so happy it’s summer; it gives me energy.   I love the sunshine, the warm air, and the flowers that bloom this time of year.  This summer I want new dresses. They need to be comfortable during the summer heat.  They need to easily transition from casual day wear to an elevated evening outfit and look chic whether I am in sneakers, flats, or platform shoes.  I also want one of them will be white because I don’t own a white dress! I saw Vogue V1653 and was immediately taken by its comfortable style and the simplicity of the lapel collar.  I chose View D for its midi length and almost straight skirt.  The side seam pockets was a bonus. I would wear this dress with a sneaker around town or with platform shoes and a belt I already own for dinner with friends.  I selected Fabric Mart’s medium Persian blue 100% linen (SKU# UAA7473r ) to sew this loose-fitting dress. Sewing a swimsuit is an easy and quick project that can be done in just a few hours. Seriously they are pretty quick to make! If you can sew a zigzag or a straight stitch you can sew a swimsuit. Fabric Mart had an amazing collection of swim and I was so thrilled to get my hands on some. Today I will be reviewing two swim patterns I used. The first one I made was from Megan Nielsen Patterns, the Cottesloe swimsuit pattern . I mostly stick with one piece swim patterns but support is important to me. This one has a shelf bra and tie back that helps with some support in the front. The pattern itself is pretty straight forward. There is an option to sew in a lining as well. I did not sew in a lining and I do regret that! The stitches and elastic can get irritating in the gusset area, I think that having a lining MIGHT help to prevent that. If your elastic is at all showing, meaning the fabric doesn’t completely cover the elastic when its folded over, there will probably be irritating rubbin...

Happy First Friday of the month! It’s officially 3 weeks since I have been off for summer break and I am enjoying every single minute. Even though I am working part time this summer, I still have a bit more time to sew. I was a bit uninspired right after the break but got a burst of sewing energy last week and decided to sew a few pieces. I have been wanting to create a jumpsuit since early Spring and finally decided on a pattern. I have had McCalls 7755 (now M8069) in my stash for quite a while but hated the neckline with the casing. I had an epiphany and decided to use the same neckline method for the top I made in my last post here . The bodice part of the jumpsuit is exactly the same cut and I knew it would work. I should have removed about an inch more from the top but definitely plan to make the adjustments next time around. Additionally I should have gathered it just like the dress but opted to gather the front at 8 inches instead of 7 inches and 4 inches on each side in the bac...
