The Results are in...

The results are in for the Reader's Pick Sew-Along! And the winner is....

New Look 6097!



It was neck and neck between New Look 6097 (dress) and McCall 5894 (pants.) I have to admit I started to think about what fabrics I would like to use for the pants, but when the dress was chosen, I had to change my course! 

If you don't have the pattern, place an order on the New Look website or head over to your local New Look retailer. We will begin sewing on April 7th. That will give you two weeks to get your pattern and fabric. It is not required to use Fabric Mart fabric, but if you want to, get your orders in ASAP to ensure you receive your fabric before April 7th! I will be doing a post on fabric choices tomorrow, so if you're unsure as to what fabric to use, I will help you tomorrow! I'm heading out right now to purchase a copy of New Look 6097.

    Count me in! I've had this pattern for ages, and am certain that there's an appropriate knit from Fabric Mart in my stash. Sounds like lots of fun :D

    Peer pressure is a terrible thing. If I already had the pattern I would follow, but i have too many other projects with deadlines in the next few weeks. I'll be watching, though!

Made By A Fabricista: A matching set and a happy error.

 Hi sewing friends! Today I’m sharing a new outfit I made inspired by looks I’ve been seeing pop up in my Facebook and IG feeds a LOT this year. I’m talking about those monochromatic matching top and bottom outfits, sometimes in linen, sometimes in a flowy knit - the ones that advertise they go effortlessly from loungewear to office wear to going out wear. So I decided to “sew the look” using Fabric Mart fabric and a few patterns I already in my massive pattern library. First, let me share that I have very few solid color pieces in my closet. Made By A Fabricista: Oversized Jenna Shirt for Summer Fun

 I may or may not have had several meltdowns during the making of this Closet Core Jenna Shirt… But let’s back up first. During the month of May, I promised to wear handmade garments every single day for the popular sewing challenge “Me Made May.” I really enjoyed thoughtfully putting together my outfits each day. While I was doing this, I was taking notes of the gaps in my wardrobe. Particularly, I don’t have many transitional shirts that could work for on-camera work attire and be comfortable for the weekend.
