How have you all been doing? Has life felt normal during these always changing times or has your world been turned upside down? I feel like I vacillate between those two extremes. One minute at home I feel like we are doing life like we always do, but then the next minute I feel like I am living in a strange world. I hope you are doing well! I ordered quite a bit of fabric from Fabric Mart (probably because I have had quite a bit of free time at home) and sewed a new pattern, which is always fun! This is the Rio Ringer T Shirt pattern from Kelli over at True Bias. I'm in this fun stage of sewing where I find a pattern that I like for myself, and 9 times out of ten, my fifteen year old wants me to sew one for her also! It's also a fun stage where photos with her are a blast! Somehow we started flexing our muscles, which led to a little boxing match...no injuries occurred! Just a huge laughing fest! Can you believe it's Memorial Day weekend? Time during this pandemic is a very strange thing. Sometimes it seems that time is going so quickly that the days blur together and other times the hours creep by. I think I'm pretty well adjusted to this new normal. Doing my best to stay safe and sane. Sewing is definitely a big part of my self care. I hope you are well and have found some peace in these unpredictable times. I'm still sewing even though I rarely leave the house and am not in need of new clothes. This voluminous gathered tent dress will be great to wear out on a hot summer day even if it's just my back yard. Happy Saturday All! How have you been coping with this sudden change? 2020 is the year of adjustments and most of us will probably never forget due to the Covid-19. I am in the acceptance phase and the first 2 weeks were challenging for me to cope at first. I honestly adjusted around week 3 and have learned to cope and made the best out of it. To get my daughter Arielle out of the house after not leaving for a month, I decided that I would make a few pieces that were on my to-make list and convince her to dress up so that I can shoot. She has been begging for a few palazzo pants since January and since we both have been home since March and I had no excuse, I just did it.   Arielle fell in love with the linen I used for my last Fabric Mart make in March and I had promised her that I would use the remaining linen in bright tan here to make her something.   I decided to use Simplicity 8605 palazzo pants to recreate a similar ready to wear pants she had.

When I originally ordered these two pieces of fabric, I really had Spring dresses in mind.  We had just begun our sheltering in place, and I optimistically thought that our lockdown would be done by the time I wrote this post.  Here in Illinois, we are still in lockdown until at least the end of this month, and our cases of Covid 19 are still rising, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is extended.  So, the idea of Spring dresses went out the window, and in came a cheery pajama and robe set!  After all, I am spending much more time in my pajamas than usual, so they might as well be extra nice! For the pajamas, I used a rayon challis in a lattice print that was in the New York Designer section.  It is still available here .  For the pattern, I used McCall's 7696 which is a two piece pajama set with various sleeve options.  I chose the plain sleeve option and the longer length.  I have to say- these are just really comfy.  If you are wondering how I got the d

Hello all!  I hope this finds you well and healthy!  As I write this post, I am still WFH and still in need of COMFORT!  Know what I mean?  When I was drooling over FMs catalog and trying to pick out my fabric, I found myself ordering this gorgeous and soft double brushed poly.  You can see the fabric I used here:  double-brushed-jersey-knit Here are some lovely choices too:  Double Brushed Poly Choices  Have you tried this fabric yet?  I can't think of anything softer.   Of course then comes all sorts of dilemmas.  What do I make?  Maxi? Dress?  Tops?  Cardigan?  Pants?  I spent a good week just looking at this and finally came up with separates so I could have some ultimate comfort clothing.  I love the look of jumpsuits, but I remember back in the day getting undressed to use the restroom and that was appealing to me.  I settled for second best and made pants and two different tops.
