Final Challenge Announced!

This is unfortunately our last challenge for the season.
We are so thankful for everyone who supported and participated in our challenge!
We are down to our final three who are going to compete for our Grand Prizes!

3 Seamstresses will compete in this challenge.
You will have two weeks to complete this challenge.
Challenge: Create 3 pieces that can be worn together as one outfit or 2 outfits that could be worn to the same event. Using the Pantone Fall Color Chart, select 2 fall colors to inspire your outfit. 
You will be judged on creativity, craftsmanship, use of color, and fit. 

The First Place Winner will receive $25.00 a month for one year to spend on fabric at Fabric Mart (worth $300!) Plus! You will become a Fabricista on our blog!

 The Second Place Winner will receive a $100 Gift Certificate and a Julie's Picks Membership. 

 The Third Place Winner will receive a $50 Gift Certificate and Julie's Picks Membership.
Julie's Picks is a Monthly Mailer that has information about trends, sewing tips, and SWATCHES! Touch and feel the fabrics selected by one of our Fabricistas, Julie. 
You will receive a packet of swatches for 30 fabrics you can choose from at a special price.
Also, you will receive a newsletter written by Julie.

    I have watched this challenge unfold, marveling at both the remarkable talents of the participants and at the extraordinary investment of time and money they have made in your promotion. I kept anticipating that the grand prizes that awaited these women would respectfully acknowledge that investment, but I am disappointed to see that they do not, in my opinion, do so.

    We appreciate each and every one of our viewers out there watching the contest unfold and supporting all competing. Being that this was the first time we had a contest to this length, we learned a lot, and learned it along the way. We are grateful to have 10 contestants (and I'm sure it could have been more!) take time out of their regular sewing lives to compete in a fun challenge. I'm sure our winners will be grateful for the prizes they have received. Being a small business we can only offer so much without asking for sponsors from other companies. We felt as though this was more than enough for someone to receive. Thanks for your input and if we decide to do another competition will take not only yours, but other comments and suggestions into consideration.

Return to work wardrobe in ITY – which is your favorite?

In June of this year, after spending nearly 11 years at my place of employment and after restructuring and cost cutting, I took a separation package. I was so fortunate to be able to take a few months off, and also to very quickly find a position with a new company. Foray into Shirtmaking

I love playing with volume and texture! I've always loved well-made shirts: the soft yet crisp fabric, the structure and tailored fit. I love the deceptive simplicity that tries to conceal the precision and details that go into their construction…everything about well-made shirts is fascinating. And despite my interest, I somehow never really owned one. Let’s change that! I took my time with the finishing touches. I decided to bury my nose in a couple of David Page Coffin books on shirtmaking and became even more determined to try my hand at sewing one for myself. Everything I read about shirtmaking emphasized the need for really good fabric, so this 100% cotton shirting was a no-brainer (SKU: DMC 5116). I mean, look at those stripes! It's incredibly soft and light, with lots of body and a voluminous drape. It holds its shape remarkably well, and it was a delight to press. Office Attire to Remember

Hello everyone! I’m very excited to contribute to Fabricista blog once more! I made another brand new cosplay: Reiko Kujirai from Kowloon Generic Romance! Kowloon Generic Romance is a sci-fi, romance & mystery manga series. It was later adapted to a TV anime and live action film! This series takes place in Kowloon Walled City. It’s about a woman named Reiko Kujirai who suffers from memory loss and doesn't remember her past. She works at a realty estate management company with her co-worker Hajime Kudou, a very easy going and brash man who’s also her crush! Reiko lives her life in Kowloon, while also trying to discover who she is, and the mysteries of this city (I will not spoil everything! You’re going to have to check it out for yourself!). I binged the anime in one day and really enjoyed it. The story and the characters are very intriguing. I love that the main characters are in their 30s, which is very rare in anime! Sometimes The Fabric Chooses The Pattern

Have you ever fallen in love with a fabric and immediately envisioned exactly what you wanted to make, only to realize halfway through the planning process that the fabric had other ideas? That’s exactly what happened with this project. I used Fabric Mart’s Black/Dark Cobalt/Smoky White Poly Foliage Print Chiffon , and while I initially had plans for a detailed dress, the fabric ultimately led me in a completely different direction—and I’m so glad it did. When I first saw this gorgeous chiffon print, I was immediately drawn to the rich color palette and beautiful movement. The dark background paired with the cobalt and smoky white foliage creates a striking look that feels both dramatic and versatile. My original plan was to make a dress with princess seams, buttons, and more structured design elements. However, after spending time with the fabric, I realized that all of those seam lines and construction details would compete with what makes this chiffon so beautiful: its drape, moveme...
