Made by a Fabricista: Are Roses Black? Well They Are For This Jumpsuit!

This fabric is fabulous! When I saw this I could not put it in my cart fast enough. This black & white rose print is the star of the show! This is one fabric that needs a simple design so that it doesn't fight with the print. I knew I wanted to make a jumpsuit with this fabric and I wanted a simple sleeveless jumpsuit with a matching belt. 

I made a romper last year by hacking these patterns so this is what I used for this jumpsuit. I used the top of view C from the dress and I used the base of the shorts for my bottom. I would have just used a jumpsuit pattern in my stash but I knew I had worked out fit issues already with these patterns and all I had to do was add the pant legs to the short pattern.


I added a collar and a matching belt to give this jumpsuit a little class. Unfortunately  they disappears when it's all put together. You have to see this beauty up close and personal to really appreciate it. So here are some close-up shots of the collar and belt.


 
  
  

We took a walk to a local flower shops on Keswick Ave in Glenside PA called Penny's for our backdrop. I love this painted window and their mural on the building...and the flowers. Thanks Penny's!

    Gorgeous girl, even more beautiful with the exquisitely fitted jumpsuit. You are a sweet momma for taking the time to carefully craft it for her. I LOVE the belt, especially. I really have all intentions of making belts, but by the time I am near the end of a project, I'm all, "meh, too tired." ;-) One day!

      Thanks Dina, this belt almost kicked my butt, I had to break out my hot glue gun on this buckle. But yes, one day you will prevail!

    This is a beautiful outfit. I like the collar. It adds a dimension to the top even though it is subtle. Your daughter is beautiful also.

    As usual girl, you rock...The jumpsuit is beautiful and the added collar and belt add the sophistication I'm sure you were going for. The fit is on point as usual. Mori's closet must be the envy of all her friends. I hope she knows how blessed she is.

Made By A Fabricista: Effortless ITY

Clothing made from  ITY  (Interlock Twist Yarn) fabric is effortless, almost like wearing secret pajamas. It is silky and cool to the touch, with a beautiful drape and amazing stretch. ITY fabric is incredibly versatile, and some of the best dresses, skirts, and athletic wear I’ve owned are made from it. Thanks to Fabric Mart’s recent influx of unique ITY fabrics, I was inspired to add some additional ITY items to my wardrobe.  I found two beautiful ITY fabrics on the Fabric Mart site that stopped me in my tracks. The first fabric I loved was a funky off-white and multi-color flora and fauna print from a New York Designer. I ordered two yards of this print with a top in mind. Next, I saw a beautiful  ITY fabric panel  featuring off-white and blue floral print. I’m usually hesitant to buy fabric panels without a plan of how to use them, but I threw caution to the wind this time. Made By A Fabricista: Matching Sets Are Always a Win for Me

I think I might have a problem.  I’m obsessed with a good matching set. Matching Sets can be considered as a coordinated chic look. A perfectly paired top and bottom that creates a seamless, stylish look with minimal effort. I think that’s exactly what I did.  Usually when I’m looking for fabric, I try to have something in mind of what I’m going to make with it. Well, I’m here to report that I totally forgot what pattern I was going to use for this beautiful fabric. I believe I had a dress in mind, but I couldn’t remember the pattern for the life of me.  The fabric I chose is called Indian red dandelion soft lavender flower poplin shirting .  I’ve used poplin from Fabric Mart several times and it’s always a win for me. I went through several different patterns for the top, until I landed on the Sara Top from Fibre Mood.
