I don't have much to say about my project this time. Other than I can't be happier with how it turned out. I think it'll make a cute romantic dress for summer but also blend into the high-fantasy wardrobe that I want to create. It'll be fun to play with and explore.


Hopefully, next time my life will be a little more put together and I'll be a little less stressed. But for now, I hope you all enjoy this project as much as I do. With all the chaos included.

How are the temps still so hot?! I’m trying to make the best out of a blazing situation with a gorgeous swishy dress made in a splendid graphic print in an attempt to keep my cool when I am very much not. The heat persists, but so do I (while wearing sundresses)!  I really wanted a full length, all-fancy-design-details-included version of the new Chalk & Notch Noe Tank Dress since testing the pattern. Fall + Flannel = Shacket

Sewing With Intention: New Look 6106 and a More Coordinated Wardrobe

Sometimes a sewing project begins with a beautiful piece of fabric or a pattern you just have to make. This one began with my closet. Recently, I did a major closet purge. I took a good look at what I actually wear, what I kept reaching for, and—maybe more importantly—what was missing. Once the pieces I no longer loved or wore were gone, something became very clear: I want to be more intentional about what I sew next. Instead of sewing individual pieces that I love but don't necessarily wear together, I want to build a wardrobe where my handmade garments coordinate with the clothes I already own—and with the pieces I'm planning to sew next. For this month's Fabricista project, this beautiful lightweight shirting from Fabric Mart turned out to be a wonderful place to start. Two fantastic linen dresses, without breaking the bank!

 Dory's Make: If you are thinking of going on a vacation, let’s say Italy or France, this would be a wonderful dress to take along. Dory used Simplicity 0330/1810  (a 2012 pattern) and a beautiful 55% linen 45% rayon fabric to create a very comfortable cornflower blue floral dress.  The Fabric Mart fabric was easy to work with. It does have a slight slub to the fabric and tends to ravel.  Easy to fix with either overlocking the edges or using a french seam.   This dress has pleats in the bodice and pleats in the sleeves as well as two darts in the back where you stitch your belt into.  It’s not a difficult make.  There are no buttons or zippers.  The V neck is a perfect length, not too low or too high.  I love this fabric and hope to make some other clothes out of the same kind!  Dee's Make: A woven linen and rayon blend from Fabric Mart fabrics makes for an easy-to-wear, comfortable, colorful fall dress!     Simplicity 88...
