Dory's Make:
If you are thinking of going on a vacation, let’s say Italy or France, this would be a wonderful dress to take along. Dory used Simplicity 0330/1810 (a 2012 pattern) and a beautiful 55% linen 45% rayon fabric to create a very comfortable cornflower blue floral dress. The Fabric Mart fabric was easy to work with. It does have a slight slub to the fabric and tends to ravel. Easy to fix with either overlocking the edges or using a french seam.
This dress has pleats in the bodice and pleats in the sleeves as well as two darts in the back where you stitch your belt into. It’s not a difficult make. There are no buttons or zippers. The V neck is a perfect length, not too low or too high. I love this fabric and hope to make some other clothes out of the same kind!
Dee's Make:
A woven linen and rayon blend from Fabric Mart fabrics makes for an easy-to-wear, comfortable, colorful fall dress!
Simplicity 8833 is a loose fitting dress. The dress has dropped shoulder three-quarter length sleeves, pockets in the side seams, a V-neck and an elastic waistline. The skirt is made up of four pieces and has plenty of fabric for a nice flowing skirt. This simplicity pattern comes together easily.
The fabric is a loose weave requiring all raw edges to be finished off due to the fraying of the fabric. I laundered the fabric in cool water and dried the fabric in the dryer on low. You may or may not wish to iron the fabric depending on your preference. In any event, the fabric is beautiful and wears easily.
