  1. wool plaids
    twills
    woven interfacing

    ReplyDelete
  2. Easy! I'd like wool knits and worsted wool crepe (medium weight).

    ReplyDelete
  3. I love double knits (need more colors and better quality), jersey, rayon challis, cotton stretch sateen and nice medium weight twill (for jackets/pants).

    ReplyDelete
  4. 100 % wools in neutral and bright colors! Crepes, gabardines, tricotines, coatings and knits!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Great post!

Go to AnnTaylor.com and check out their knit tops. That's the kind of fabric I'm looking for.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I would love some sweatshirt fleece (NOT the fleece that's all over local fabric stores). Also some knits for jackets. Colorways: red, olive or moss green, indigo blues, charcoal treys. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Also, chocolate and other shades of brown:)

    ReplyDelete
  8. I second your pontes and gabs. I add to them tribal prints.

    ReplyDelete
  9. laminated ponte knit; stretch wovens, jeweltone colors

    ReplyDelete
  10. The reenacting community loves your 100% wool fabrics, especially the light and medium weight suiting and Shetland wools.

Although vendor advertising is not allowed, if you would like to follow some of their discussions, check out www.thesewingacademy.org. Your sales almost always receive mention.

  11. I would love to see a selection of wool jersey and interlock! Also wool coating and cotton twill bottomweights.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'd like some drapey fabrics which could be layered over co-ordinating fabrics. I'd prefer knit sliks and linens in warm colours.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I agree with ponte knits in fall colors and prints. I would like jacket weight fabrics in interesting fabrics.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I would like some thin drapey fabric knit that could be layered over the pants or tunics. I'd prefer linen or slik in warm colours.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I would love more of BPC3584 Brown Maggy London Poly/Rayon/Lycra Suiting 58 in this brown and other colors (like olive, black, red, khaki, grey, navy, ivory)...the fabric is FANTASTIC!

also, last year I bought the Micro-Pique Knit Polyester in tan, light sable and midnight navy and I would love this fabric in grey (not like "sweatshirt" grey, where it's sort of a mottled, grey/whitish color, but just true Grey) red, olive, brown, hot pink, deep purple, well, you get the idea. This fabric is also really fabulous.

I also have a thing for anything Maggy London

I'd like a rainbow selection of nice, washable lining fabric (but not nylon, it makes a summer skirt far too *hot*) something that feels/acts like silk, but that is machine washable on a normal cycle

also, I look for what I call *ballet pink*, which is kind of a peachy, flesh-toned, dusty pink and not true bright pink, or kid-pink

I will nearly always buy anything in this shade of pink, unless it is Dry Clean Only...I steer clear of those fabrics as they just don't work in my life very well

    ReplyDelete
  16. I would like to see all colors of wool crepe and wool boucle, especially colors like soft pink and fushia. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  17. Boucle, machine washable bottom weights, and border prints. Textured knits would be great, too.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Living in Texas, we do not have an opportunity to wear the colder weather fabrics and layers. Many winter days do not require even a coat but just a jacket. We do get wet weather and love water repellant rain gear that is light weight. During our winter, we wear heavier knits and cottons. Wool jersey and lightweight wools are fine, polyesters and silks for tops. We wear flannels and fleeces. Look for embellishments and trims. Denim and chambrays. We love accessories, gloves, hats, scarves, purses, shawls, sweaters and look for fabrics to make these.

    ReplyDelete
  19. colors, tans and browns, black and white, denim blues, jewel-cranberry, hunter green, eggplant, greys go any color. love the patterns you pick and solids too. ITY Knits, Interlock knit, designer fabrics are prized. Linen, Wearable lace fabrics, batiste, crepe de chine, high quality Interlock knit, PIMA Cotton, lawn, wool crepe, voile, silk, charmeuse.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Silk twills and silk crepes in prints, lightweight denims, chambrays in colors, more polka dots, and retro prints.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Good quality denim including stretch regular and variety of colors.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Here's another vote for linen knit.

    ReplyDelete
  24. My vote is for wool knits: ponte and jersey! Silk jersey would be a close second.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wools! (especially washable wools). Stretch denims of varying weights. Double knits/pontes. Jewel tones.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Most of my sewing is done for a sensory-sensitive 6-year-old girl so impossibly soft knits are my Holy Grail.

    ReplyDelete
  27. rayon-cotton challis-like fabric
    lightweight silk-cotton woven fabric
    cotton lawn in bright colors
    double gauze
wool or wool-blend crepe, preferably not a solid color

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think you guys already have great fabric I just want you to continue to keep your prices affordable! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I would love to see you carry sew-in hair canvas as well as some cool twills to make men's neckties.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Larger garment weight leather hides at a reasonable price, would be super. Also evening fabrics with lots of sequins and glitz!

    ReplyDelete
  31. trendy chevron jersey knits, trendy boutique polyester/rayon fabrics

    ReplyDelete
  32. boiled wool please

    ReplyDelete
  33. Excellent quality dirt cheap. Am I asking for too much???

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am dying to find a cotton sateen for my daughter's Christmas dress or something with a similar weight and care. Preferably navy but anything that would coordinate with the gray velveteen I bought from you last year would be great.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I would love "denim" knit in natural fibers (with some lycra is fine, but most of the denim knits I've found have been largely polyester.)

The kind of nice heavy-weight stretch denim that makes comfortable, durable jeans.

Almost anything in cool, dark greens.

And if possible, inexpensive non-stretch stiff denim. (Which is perfect for corset mockups.)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have been looking for a deep rich red wool gabardine or wool tricotine for years. I bought several yards of the cherry red gabardine you offered. It was not deep enough. Also, I would like deep navy blue (almost black). Looking for a wool gabardine in true chartreuse or citrine.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Deep red wool gabardine or tricotine.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I like color, some wool blends that are med wt with some fall colors. I love red. I like Angelas' suggestion too.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wool crepe in bright cool colors such as hot pink, cobalt and royal purple.

    ReplyDelete
  42. smooth minky and children's bright cotton prints

    ReplyDelete
  43. A while ago you had a large herringbone wool coating from some designer in bright green and blue, and I really wanted some, but it was out of my budget, so I want to see more wool coating like that with fun, not dreary colors. I'll be saving for it. :) Also, I'm always ready to stock up on high quality knits.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Medium weight cotton-lycra stretch denim in dark navy and indigo shades. And maybe a fun bright color or two.

    ReplyDelete
  45. 100% wool knits and wool crepe in jewel tones, please!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I love wool doubleknits and jerseys, both solid and patterned.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I've been searching for good denims, in a variety of colors. A larger selection of interfacing would be nice. Knit linings! I gobble up anything that is close to a knit lining. I've also searched for nylon fabrics that you would wear for board shorts, and the lining used for swimwear on them (it's like a mesh)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Boucle Boucle Boucle!!! :) Brightly patterned coat weight wools too! Loved what you guys had in solids last winter but I'm dying to make a brightly colored/patterned coat for our NYC winter. :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. boucle, wool coating, melton, velour, etc. also silk dupioni and habutai.....cotton jerseys and double knits, colored twills, variety of denims

    ReplyDelete
  50. I would like to see good quality knits for tops in muted fall colors. Fabrics colors in the brownish burnt orange or old gold range are hard to find. Flowy bottom weights that go with these in a woven stretch are also desirable. I am looking forward to sewing some leggins too this winter with 4 way cotton stretch knits. I always look for good prices of course.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I would love to see 100% cotton sweatshirt material (heavy). Heather, whites, blues, any color basically - but it's GOT TO BE 100% cotton! ( :

    ReplyDelete
  52. Handkerchief linens in plain colors, not white and perferably jewel tones. I have so much of your fabric waiting to be transformed I must be crazy to request more!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Washable wools, gabardine, double georgette solids, and chiffon/georgette prints.

    ReplyDelete
  54. boiled wool, interesting silks (non stretch/100%) for lining (either rich dark colors, or muted patterns to go w/black coats). Also organic knits - stable knits, double knits, bamboo knits (without lycra). Looking also forward to funky geometric designs in warm colors (think yucatan architecture colors, maya/pre-colonial spanish type designs, etc.)

    All natural fibers though!

    ReplyDelete
  55. oh, and for colors - mauve, sage green, dusty rose, olive green, silvery gray, tans, "heathered" colors, dull violets/plums,

    ReplyDelete
  56. I am looking for fabric with foxes on it. Smaller than bigger.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ity knits, printed silks, jewel tones, silk jersey

    ReplyDelete
  59. I live in the gulf coast and am looking for washable silks in solids jewel tones and darks/ midnight blue / charcoals, some pinstripes..very small prints...washable silks that can be used for casual classic wear and for dressy..for skirts. tops, pants. It's cool, comfortable and can be paired with other heavier fabric layering for cool weather. It's the best for the southern climate!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ditto to all the above, love to see some burgundy rich colored wool with a bit of stretch to it, or not. We love your company and appreciate what you do for us fabric lovers.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I love love love menswear fabrics, poly blends, washable, stretch suiting traditional colors and patterns mid and heavier weights.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I would love silk/wool blends. I try to use only natural fabrics. Light/med wt. wools. cotton/silk blends

    ReplyDelete
  63. Looking for lush velvets, especially beautiful prints with metallic gold or silver accents at reasonable prices, especially in jewel tones. I've found them here in the past and loved them (they were stretch velvets).
Also second the desire for 100% cotton sweatshirt fleece and 100% cotton bottomweight fabrics especially in indigo or other dark blue. Love your fabrics and your prices! Thank you

    ReplyDelete
  64. beautiful lush Print velvets in jewel tones, could be stretch velvet, with gold or silver metallic accents. Also 100%cotton sweatshirt material and 100& cotton bottomweights especially in idigo. Love your website, fabrics and prices.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Thank you for asking!
Moderate-priced ($10-$15/yard or less) lightweight and/or tropical worsted wool suitings in interesting solid colors -- jewel tones, pastels, etc. Good-quality midweight linens in floral prints and woven stripes and checks, especially on white grounds. Wool damasks, brocades, and jacquards. Silk damasks, brocades, and jacquards. I'd especially love some tiny-pattern, lightweight silk jacquards (like high-end linings) for making doll clothes. Medium-heavy silk taffeta and silk faille in brown, lavender, and "iridescent" (cross-weave). Extra-lightweight white or ivory wool gauze. Cotton, silk, or linen lawn, voile, or batiste in tiny floral prints (more doll clothes). Hard-finished wool trenchcoat twill, bonus points for red. Also adding my votes for 100% cotton sweatshirt fleece, silk-wool blends, and larger garment-weight leather hides. And, as far as I'm concerned, you could bring back the heavy Uruguayan woollens; I love them!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Textured Wool for rug hooking. WOOL!!! PLEEEZ!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Deep COOL-toned red stretch denim (predominately cotton, suitable for pants / skirts) is on my wish list and something that I'm having tremendous difficulty locating. Cotton or cotton-blend bottomweight fabrics with a touch of stretch will always pique my interest. As do pretty ITY and cotton knits for tops and dresses. Also love printed voiles and lawns.

    ReplyDelete
  68. oh, and maybe have another blast of free shipping if the order is over a certain amount. Try to have it once a month! Many times, when I'm to order, I compare your products (which are lovely) with fabric.com, and sometimes, I go with fabric.com just for the extra savings - I can buy a bit more and stretch my purchase longer. It is the recession and we are counting pennies!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Light grey wool flannel for a blazer.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Organic fabrics, especially knits! Also, machine washable wool knits

    ReplyDelete
  71. Living in Australia we are heading for spring/summer. I would love a floral fabric with a dark background suitable for a tailored jacket. However I have been tempted to order, but I find the high cost of postage doubles the price of the fabric... so I will just have to admire your lovely range from a distance.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I need great underlinings: silk or cotton batiste without lines or texture, silk organza, tricot for lining knits.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'd really love to see merino jersey in several colors if possible. That stuff is hard to find! More ITY and in solid colors would also be lovely as would silk jersey

    ReplyDelete
  74. Printed knits - pontes and jerseys; rayon challis in prints and solids for soft, casual blouses

    ReplyDelete
  75. Ponte knits and wool plaids are what I plan on buying from you soon. Ready to start sewing for winter!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'd love to see JCrew fabrics again!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Shetland wools to rug hook with. You have carried some beautiful ones in the past!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Nice ITY jerseys that aren't too thin and show every lump and bump.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Faux persian lamb and french net veiling

    ReplyDelete
  80. I would love to see silk/cotton blend fabric, organic fabrics, as well as 100% jersey knit and sweatshirt fabric. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I don't envy your job - everyone wants something specific! Much of those can be found in local fabric stores - lining, denim etc. What you do best is offer fashion fabric. Every mailing inspires me and there are always several fabrics I want in every mailing. So keep up the great work! I do love ITY knits, knits for tops and dresses, bottom weights for pants, laces, glittery fabrics; I love them all!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Solid twill bottom weights in classic colors for grown up and kids' pants/skirts (the stuff at the fabric stores is mostly thin, overly shiny, or way overpriced for what you get)

Corduroy for kids clothes (including prints)

Solid matte prints in dark colors for leggins and yoga pants for the little ones and moi

Powernet and other body shaper fabrics. I can order from specialty shops but sometimes it's hit and miss. When I order from regular fabric stores, the quality varies widely and the item descriptions aren't up to snuff (and that' something I trust you guys to do and do well - describe things and, as sewists, actually understand what is/isn't feasible for a fabric).

Also, large spools of Guterman thread by the color. Not the color match but the ability to buy thread by color number. It's possible that I'm the only one (or one of the few) who have a thread card at home and can order by number based on things in my stash or what's running low. This is a convenience thing to me since it saves me the trip to a store and I'm placing an order anyway..... :)

  83. I live in Tucson, AZ and it's hot here 9 months of the year. As a result, my "want list" is a little seasonally skewed. But here goes:

I bought 5 colors of this fabric last fall, and would happily buy more. It's extremely comfortable in the heat and launders well. Best I can tell, the opaque parts are cotton.
SKU35453 UYA4821 Diagonal and Burnout Stripe Knit Gunmetal Gray 52" Wide
SKU35454 UYB4822 Diagonal and Burnout Stripe Knit Heathered Brown 52" Wide

I'm looking for midweight-to-lightweight jersey knit for yoga-style pants. Fiber mostly cotton or rayon. Colors in pants-type neutrals - black, light and dark grey, khakis, muted blues.

I also watch cotton and rayon knit prints and pounce on the really special prints. ITY doesn't work as well in my climate.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Suri lining- 65% cotton/35% polyester

    ReplyDelete
  85. Shetland wools in lively colored plaids, tweeds and herringbones. You had a great selection I-2 years ago and I keep coming back hoping for more!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Please more cotton voile, lawn, sateen and silk crepe de chine and silk habotai in floral prints. How about a nice wool gauze or a silk gazar? Stick with high quality natural fibers. Please do not send so many polyesters in the Julie's Picks club. Stick with high quality fabrics that are difficult to find.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Sweater knits in prints; lots of ponte (prints and solids) in jewel tones; cotton/poly/lycra wovens in prints and solids.
Thanks for excellent service and quality!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Im looking for a Red Silk Knit Jersey I saw it at another Fabric House at $40 a yard was hoping to get it less expensive..

    ReplyDelete
  89. How about some Alpaca -- less than $95 a yard!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Worsted wools and stretch cotton jersey are tops on my list.

    ReplyDelete
  91. 1- stretch woven for pants (not suit pants): I am thinking wool/lycra or cotton/lycra or a mix in interesting colors as well as basic colors.

2-- good quality knits in different fibers (rayon, cotton, wool, silk...), textured knits, LOVE rayon ITY in interesting prints

3- bring back more of your designer fabrics!

    ReplyDelete
  92. I would like Woolens and Wide Wale Corduroys

    ReplyDelete
  93. fall & winter fabrics in prints for kids - corduroy, fleece, twill

    ReplyDelete
  94. Silk jersey, Wool knits and pontes.
    Wool crepe

    ReplyDelete
  95. Classic Menswear wools and wool blends

    ReplyDelete
  96. knits like Land's End uses for the Starfish bottoms--12& lycra and 88% cotton.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I love wool doubleknits and wool jersey for winter, and I rarely see good quality wool knits in nice colors (I like solids and stripes, personally) offered anywhere else online. I also appreciate a range of silk/cotton solids, and I LOVE when you have beautiful and high-quality designer fashion fabrics.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I would love any thick stretch fabric for the winter. I am still in the basic stages of sewing and would enjoy being able to make winter maxi dresses with sleeves to wear with boots. It would be nice if you could get a few African inspired fabrics.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Wools! Gabardines and crepes, and knits would be absolutely lovely.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I need Lycra/Cotton knits. Always looking for light weight cotton and cotton blends.

    ReplyDelete
  101. All of the above, plus fleece, fleece and more fleece (real fleece)

    ReplyDelete
  102. 1. I am always looking for cotton voile and lawn! Earth colors would be great.

    2. Knits in tiny floral patterns.

    3. Powernet in various non-bright colors.

    ReplyDelete
  103. You would be a lifesaver if you could find cotton Japanese double gauze!

    ReplyDelete
  104. I would LOVE a cotton/lycra sweatshirt type fabric. Fabric mart offered it years ago and has not had it since. That would make my year if that were available again!

    ReplyDelete
  105. as a rug hooker, I am always on the hunt for 100% wool shetland, flannel weight for rug hooking. when you get it in it always sells out so I know it it a good seller for you.
I have always mentioned Fabric Mart to other rug hookers who are looking for wool.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I bought a pair of cranberry colored jeans from Talbots and could only find one print fabric that matched the same red tones in these jeans. I keep checking your site. You have poppy red and tomato red, but no solids or prints with this nice cranberry or even a burgundy color. Prefer a knit but a rayon or cotton with lycra would be fine. Would also like to see more plum or eggplant. Also I do not buy fabric that needs to be dry cleaned.

Thanks for asking!!! Love the site. It keeps on getting better.

    ReplyDelete
  107. dark-toned prints, geometric prints, medium-weight shirting, all in natural fibers ... more Marc Jacobs, please!

    ReplyDelete
  108. I, and many others are allergic to wool and want something to make coats out of. I have used a faux "cashmere" that looks like wool and is predominantly polyester. I love it and It looks just like wool "melton cloth".

    ReplyDelete
  109. Adult fleece! Prints and plaids that aren't western oriented.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Sweater knits - wool, acrylic, mixtures, medium and heavy weight. Prints or plain, neutrals and brights - all good.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I'm interested in: Every weave of Silk, silk knit, cashmere, cotton cashmere knit, bamboo, rayon, cotton voile, all breathable organics. Silk and rayon velvets. Really appreciate your recent sales, free shipping and percent off offerings...you have inspired me to sew for fall and winter already! Also, your attention to detail and your personal touch is exceptional! Thanks so much for calling me about that cashmere! P.S. I wash all silk in Woolite or baby shampoo before sewing, so they may forever be washed and dried afterwards without shrinkage. Also, "Cashmere Wash" found online, (cold water only) is safe for all wool and cashmere knits (roll in towel, dry flat or hang to dry, NO DRYER!)...changed my life...no dry cleaning necessary.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Light and medium weight novelty knits with interesting textures and colorations; medium weight boiled wool

    ReplyDelete
  113. I was hoping for chenille & more velvets , especially the red tones !

    ReplyDelete
  114. I am constantly seeking wool/lycra (not poly) medium (to full-weight) double knits. So many of the Big Four's recent designer patterns require knits with more body than the popular ponte knits. If you can deliver them in the deep color palette, I would be sooo happy! Help me out!

    ReplyDelete
  115. I am looking for fabulous gorgeous heavy wool in black and red to make a one-of-a kind winter coat. Because it's a coat I also want silk solids and prints for lining, that's real silk not a polyester look-like. Next is amazing trim and buttons for said coat. All at a discounted price of course.

    ReplyDelete

    Love the cotton wool blends.

Made by a Fabricista: Milo + Citrine

Hello sewing friends! It’s Andrea - @happy.things.here on IG and today I’m on the blog to share some sew inspo on one of my favorite kinds of garments to make – cardigans! I absolutely love making them and wearing them year-round, whether it’s an extra layer for around my house in the winter, as my outermost layer in Spring and Fall, or paired with a dress on a cooler summer evening. I love love love cardigans! And there are so many great cardigan patterns out there – chances are that each of your favorite pattern companies offers multiple cardigan patterns. Button-less cardigans are great beginner patterns, and a handmade cardigan is a lovely personalized gift since it’s more forgiving for fit and you don’t have to know someone’s exact measurements to make one. And you can make them in all sorts of knit fabrics too.  Today I chose two cardigan patterns to share with you that I think bring a little something extra to the table. They are the Seamwork Milo and the Made by Rae Citrine.

Made By A Fabricista: Taking My Time

At the start of the new year I like to reflect on how I will go about my makes for the year.  I noticed this year a lot of people created a Make Nine chart of the 9 main looks they want to make for the year.  For me I had taken a hiatus from sewing towards the end of last year and was fighting to get my sewjo at the beginning of the year.  Making this blog forced me to sit down in front of my machine and these pieces are the first full sewing projects to kick off my year. Starting off I did not know exactly what it was I wanted to sew but I knew I loved working with denim so I got denim and sateen with the initial intent to make a full look with the pieces together.  Once I received the fabric I realized the hand was a little bit different than what I expected and changed my plans. The denim set I am absolutely in love with and was inspired by a look I saw online and decided to recreate.  My favorite details are the zip removable pockets on the pants.  For this look I used McCall’s M81

Week 4: Jeansmaking- What They Made

This is it, the final round! And we certainly did not go easy on our three remaining contestants this time. This round they had to make their own pair of well fitting jeans. I think they all did an absolutely outstanding job! Take a look what these ladies accomplished & be sure to vote for your favorite! (Link at bottom of post.) And, don't forget to show us your me-made jeans on Facebook or Instagram. Details at the bottom of this post.
