Julie's Picks Swatch Club - 2016 Memberships are Being Accepted!

Attention all fabricholics! This is a must read post!

We're now taking memberships for next year's Julie's Picks! I've done posts about Julie's Picks in the past, but it's always good to remind people about the club, the benefits and how to join.

Julie's Picks was started many years ago. It was actually known as Sample Cut Club. When I started working at Fabric Mart, they assigned me to take it over and also wanted to re-brand it. Hence the name, Julie's Picks. Sample Cut Club was a members only club that featured fabrics from the sample rooms of New York designers. Not very much has changed over the years as far as fabrics being picked, but it has changed in that there are more benefits than ever before.

Julie's Picks is a members-only swatch club. I hand pick 30 different fabrics each month. These fabrics are different than things on our website. Sometimes these fabrics coordinate together, sometimes there are a group of the same fabric but different prints offered. I made a video a few months ago explaining Julie's Picks. Not the greatest, but it gets the point across!

We also put together "10 Benefits of Being a Julie's Picks Member". This pretty much sums up all the reasons you should become a member. Check it out HERE.

Our customers give many reasons as to why they like Julie's Picks. Some customers love fabric so much they can't get enough! Some don't like buying fabric online, so this is their way to buy fabric. Some customers join so they can learn more about fabric. If you are a Julie's Picks member, why do you like it?

We're now offering 2016 memberships! Membership is $50 for a year (January-December). Plus, you will receive a $25 gift certificate good toward any fabric purchase. The certificate will be included with the January mailer. Plus, if you join now, you will receive the rest of the year for free! AND if it doesn't get any better, the first 200 members will get a FREE surprise notion gift! *To receive the free gift, you must purchase the membership with a fabric order. (Due to shipping costs, we will not be sending the free gift separately or holding the free gift until you place a fabric order.)

What are you waiting for? Join now!

Made By A Fabricista: I Sewed a Chic Matching Set with Fabric Mart Knit Fabric

There’s nothing I love more than sewing a project that is both stylish and comfortable—and this one checks all the boxes! For this make, I paired two Pattern Emporium designs with a gorgeous designer knit fabric from Fabric Mart, and the result is a matching tank and wide-leg pant set that’s as easy to wear as it is to sew.   The Fabric Fabric Mart always has hidden gems, and this designer knit caught my eye right away.  It’s the Urban Taupe/Gold/Black Polyester/Lycra MK Chain Print ITY Knit - NY Designer - 56W.  The weight, stretch, and drape made it perfect for both a fitted top and a flowy pant. It’s soft against the skin, has great recovery, and presses beautifully. When working with knits, having a fabric that behaves well makes all the difference. The Patterns To build my set, I chose two favorites from Pattern Emporium: • The Works Tank Top – Simple, classic, and versatile. It skims the body just right and works beautifully as a layering piece or on its ow...

Made By A Fabricista: Turning the Page

We had a lovely, warm September in central New Jersey but as of last week, fall has finally started to set in. While I’m no longer operating on a school calendar, I always look forward to the return of fall, the crisp air, the colorful leaves, and the opportunity to “turn over a new leaf.” While exploring the Fabric Mart website, browsing all their gorgeous cottons, I was incredibly inspired by the Eggshell/Black 100% Cotton Horizontal Stripe Weave Lawn . It looks exactly like a lined piece of paper. I thought it would make a fun top for work during this transitional season, one that sparks “blank page” creativity. I wanted to pair the top with a simple yet classic pair of pants, allowing each piece to be a quality addition to my work and loungewear wardrobe, working together and as separates. I picked up the beautiful Midnight Navy/White 100% Tencel Chambray , which has a fun denim-look while being quite soft and flowy. When designing the top, I wanted to play with the stripes. I chos...
